Football: Saints shoot for history on home ground

MILLICENT will fight for glory on its home ground this Sunday, when it takes to McLaughlin Park against Kybybolite in the Limestone Coast Women's Football grand final. The Saints finished their minor season on top of the premiership ladder, with last week seeing the top three sides take on their Round 7 opponents hoping to claim the percentage needed for a grand final berth.

Baseball: Premiership drought motivates Indians in Tiger hunt

BLUE Lake Sports Park will come alive with finals action as the South Indians compete in their first grand final in eight years when they take on Tigers in the 2017-18 Mount Gambier and District Baseball League Division 1 decider this weekend. Played as a best-of-three series, the first match will be played tonight, with the remaining game/s played tomorrow night.

Softball: Warriors advance in dominant style

WARRIORS earned a position in the Mount Gambier Softball Association major game with a big preliminary final victory over Concordes United at Blue Lake Sports Park on Saturday. After a disappointing loss to Demons in the semi-final, Warriors were hungry to earn a position in the grand final to seek redemption.

Bowls: RSL holds on

DESPITE losses to the Mount Gambier RSL and District Bowling Club Saturday Open Pennant Division 3 side, as well as the Friday Pennant Division 1 team, the RSL still has a strong presence in the grand finals this week at Millicent. Mount Gambier RSL's Division 1 Red side will tackle Mount Gambier Red while, Division 2 Red will play Robe in the major game.

Golf: Heywood player steals the spotlight

A GOOD size field greeted the starter for a par competition at the Blue Lake Golf Course. The greens had recently been cored and sanded which caused some angst as many a putt pulled up short of the hole, but a handful of women playing square or only one or two shots over their handicap proved it was to their liking.

Archery: Archers double dip

A FORECAST of wild, stormy weather over the weekend had Blue Lake Archers believing only the Friday night indoor would be likely to run. However, as luck would have it they dodged the worst of the weather and a small contingent from the club managed to complete a full outdoor round Sunday afternoon.
