DEMONS started well to claim a comfortable victory over Wanderers in the recent round of Mount Gambier softball.
Wanderers scored early with two runs in the first dig.
However, the hitting power of Demons was soon on display with Wanderers unable to hold back the safe hits from its opponents.
Six consecutive safe hits saw Demons pile on six runs in the second and from there it controlled the game.
Montana Millard pitched well on the mound and held the Wanderers batters at bay and take the win.
Best for Wanderers was Jo Hart – with three safe hits – while Anna Livingston collected three for Demons, including a two bagger.
Concordes United 14 d Warriors 9
WARRIORS and Concordes United battled in a see-sawing affair after both winning their Round 1 matches in the Mount Gambier Softball Association competition.
Concordes came out of the blocks quickly and scored two runs in the opening innings.
However, Warriors was quick to reply with two of its own in the second.
Warriors looked to be on top with a number of safe hits in the fourth, including a three-bagger by Leyna Bruggeman, which scored the two runners on base.
It took advantage of errors from Concordes in the field, and piled on six runs.
Warriors had the advantage and was in the box seat.
However, Concordes had no intentions on letting the game slip and came out firing in the next innings.
Safe hits to Dani Wighton, Kate Griffiths and a three bagger to Codie Jones helped Concordes to six runs of its own, taking the lead 14-9.
Dana Jones pitched well throughout for Concordes, only allowing seven safe hits for the match.
