Kalangadoo 63 d Nangwarry 24

Kalangadoo set up its big win over Nangwarry with a relentless first term in Round 6 of Mid South East netball on Saturday.

The strong defensive combination of Reanna Wetherall, Lauren Kain and Shanen Pulkkinen working hard in the circle to provide plenty of scoring opportunities for the Magpies, as they went into the first break with a 13-5 lead.

The pressure continued after the break, with the Kalangadoo goalie combination of Kori Collins and Abbey Duncan combining well to find space, despite a strong effort from Nangwarry’s Carly Ploenges and Hayley Vanderhorst.

Nangwarry’s Hayley Burner worked hard to feed her goalies Ange Pratt and Tahlia Wilson accurately.

However, Kalangadoo extended its advantage and went to the main break up 29-12.

Wilson relished her move to goal attack after the break, where she found space and rewarded her team’s hard work accurately.

However, Collins used her speed to advantage and made life tough for Nangwarry’s defensive combination of Tahlia Puckridge and Carly Ploenges.

The final quarter saw Kalangadoo increase the intensity, with wing attack Sophie Wrightson finding space and driving to the goal circle.

The Magpies ran the game out to claim a dominant victory.

Best players for the Magpies were Collins and Kain, with Ploenges and Burner best for the Saints.
