East Gambier plans water system upgrade

CASH INJECTION: Jake Dempsey, Aaron Davis, Tony Pasin, sponsor representative Nick Anderson and Luke Thompson were all on hand when the Member for Barker handed over a cheque to help the East Gambier Sportsman’s Club with new works.

MEMBER for Barker Tony Pasin has secured $13,636 for the East Gambier Sportsman Club thanks to the coalition government’s Stronger Communities program.

The funding will help the club save and use rainwater, lowering their water costs by becoming more self-sufficient.

The club will use the funding to install rainwater tanks, run new storm water pipes, pumps and a filtration system that will see filtered rainwater to all taps and showers.

“I congratulate the club on this successful application and I am looking forward coming back during the footy season and seeing the benefits first hand,” Pasin said.

The Stronger Communities program provides not for profit organisations access to funds for small capital projects aimed at strengthening communities by improving community facilities.

“We all need to be mindful of our water consumption and sporting clubs that incur the costs of maintaining ovals are obviously big water users,” Pasin said.
