MOUNT Gambier Golf Club women competed in the handicap quarter finals last week despite the wet weather.
Lois Harvey defeated Faye Mainwaring 2/1, Lyn Hudson defeated Libby Altschwager 2/1, Carol Davis defeated Heather Barry 2/1 and a fiercely contested battle to the 21st hole between Andrea
Pedler and Jeannette Braun saw Pedlar victorious.
Because of the rain only nine players were brave enough to venture out in the regular competition and Karen Forster, who has been out practising hard, is still recording some nice scores and reducing her handicap.
Forster’s 37 points was the best score returned.
Close behind – also on 37 points and beaten on a count-back – was Heather Chapman.
Nearest the pin in A Grade was Bernie Jennings, in B Grade Marilyn Spencer and in C Grade Donna Jennings.
The pro-shot went to Chapman.
