TO have your very first winner on your home track at triple figure odds is fairy tale stuff.

However, that was the scenario at Bordertown on Sunday after the 1550 metre maiden when local trainer Joanne Banks created instant jubilation for stable supporters and locals when Tramps Like Us won the 1550 metre maiden.

As much as $126 was bet about the five year old mare which was having only her fourth start after failing to beat a runner home the previous start at Mildura.

“I’m very happy and will be smiling for a month,” a jubilant Banks said of the only horse she has in work which had not been placed at all three previous starts.

“She (Tramps Like Us) has been a work in progress.

“She has been going too hard out in front, so I stepped her out up in distance today and she was able to lead without much pressure.”

Tramps Like Us was never going to be beaten from the top of the straight after kicking clear of the favourite Kalangadoo Chrome ($3.60-$3.10).

Murray Bridge trainer Sam Burford led the way with a winning double on the seven race card.

Racing was conducted on a Good 4 track and horses that led or raced near the lead were advantaged in the majority of races.
