THE Lower South East Hockey Association is poised for a stellar weekend of grand final action, showcasing the best regional hockey in South Australia with 10 games tonight and tomorrow at Blue Lake Sports Park.

Division 1 will feature Tigers Hockey Club chasing the elusive double, with both its men’s and women’s teams reaching the grand final.

Standing in the way of history is Cavaliers Hockey Club in the men’s final, while West Hockey Club hopes to pull off an upset of its own.

Redemption has been the theme of the Tiger’s Division 1 men’s side in 2017, after they narrowly lost the 2016 grand final 4-3 to West in an extra time shoot-out.

Tigers’ Aaron Mengler, who topped the season’s goal scoring ladder, will aim to put Cavaliers’ defence under pressure all day and should be provided plenty of opportunities by captain Lockie Nisbet.

Cavaliers captain Matt McGreggor will be one to watch for the underdogs and will keep Tigers goalkeeper Reilly Thompson on his toes all day.

In the women’s Division 1 final, minor premiers Tigers will hope to avenge their 4-3 qualifying final loss to West.

It will be the best defence in the competition taking on the highest scoring team, as the league’s best and fairest Dana Jones and runner-up Morgan Cooper of Tigers take on state player Cody Lewis and Michelle Clarke of West.

The game also serves as a chance for redemption for West, who narrowly lost last year’s grand final to Redbacks 1-0.

The men’s Division 1 final begins at 2pm, followed by the women’s Division 1 final at 3.30pm.
