THE Mount Gambier Junior Motorcycle Club held a race meeting on Sunday, with a solid field taking to the track over a range of classes.

Prior to the day’s competition, members payed their respects to the late Laurie Fox, with a talk to acknowledge his many contributions to the club.

This was followed by a minute of silence in his honour.

Corey Watts was the man to beat in the MX1 senior open class, as he recorded first place in each of the three heats on the day to take out the overall honours for the grade.

He was followed by runner-up Bradleigh Thompson who finished his day with a second and two thirds, ahead of Jake Brown in third overall with two second places to his name.

In the MX2 senior lites it was young-gun Riely Knightly who took out the honours, with two firsts and a second, while Alexander McNicol secured the runner-up position over Brown.

Maddi Neale had a perfect run in the women’s competition, as she crossed the line first in all three races, with Brooke Marcus and Nikki Triffitt following her across the line each time in second and third respectively.

The veteran class had only two competitors, but that did not prevent Damion Dixon and Luke McInnes from giving their all, with Dixon winning two of the races to take out the overall win.

Knightly also claimed the victory with a clean sweep in the 13 to Under 16-year-old junior grade (for 100 to 150cc 2 strokes and 200 to 250cc 4 strokes), as he held the form to account for Brodie

Dixon – who finished second in each race.

Jesse Heemskerk rounded out the podium as he finished third in all three races.

The 12 to Under 16 class for 85cc 2 strokes and 150cc 4 strokes saw Heemskerk record a perfect run to win the grade from Jack Knightly, with Brooke Marcus finishing in third.

Another clean run was had by Thomas Lambert in the nine to Under 12-year-old class, which saw riders compete on 85cc 2 stroke or 150cc 4 stroke bikes.

He was followed by Bailey Marcus who finished with all second places, while Brad Walkom rounded out the placings.

Lambert also claimed the honours in the 65cc 10 to Under 12-year-old class, in an impressive effort for the young rider.

Bailey Marcus had a good run to finish in second for the grade, while Craig Baker recorded two third positions to earn the final place on the podium.

The seven to Under 9-year-old 65cc category was won by Walkom as he found the better of Emily Lambert in each race, while Hayley Pudney finished in third place.

Emily Lambert also proved her talents in the 50cc Division 2 grade, with a perfect record at the end of the day seeing her win the class.

Runner-up for the grade was Jordan Heemskerk, while Deegan Watson claimed the final position on the podium.

The 50cc non-competition class saw riders between the age of four and nine years old try their skills on the dirt and it was Tate Cook who finished with two firsts and a third to win the grade.

Deegan Jackway was a close second, with a first and two seconds, while Ayden Nolte finished in third place.
