Mil Lel cricketers reclaim turf

GRANT District Council will help the Mil Lel Show Society level an area of ground to accommodate show jumping.

This will allow the show society to provide two separate areas for both show jumping competition and ongoing cricket matches.

At council’s recent meeting, elected members agreed to provide the Mil Lel show with in-kind assistance worth up to $1500 for the 2018/19 financial year.

In a letter to council, show society committee secretary Lynette Fritsch said the organisation wanted to level an area of ground ahead of this year’s show in October.

“There is a need to accommodate the showjumpers off the main arena/cricket ground due to the cricket ground being too rough for cricketers,” Ms Fritsch said.

“With this move, there will be two separate, safe flat level surfaces – one for the cricketers and one for the showjumpers.”

About 4800 square metres of ground is expected to be levelled.
