THE Millicent Bowling Club held its annual men’s and women’s Championship Fours on the weekend in cold, blustery conditions.

Four teams of four competed in the women’s competition, with the knockout format meaning they had to be on the ball from the outset, with games over 15 ends until the 18-end grand final.

The grand final came down to the teams of Lyn Scudds, Carlene Godden, Ros Varcoe and Judy, up against Sarah Ross, Mary Campbell, Carol Gibbs and Faye Hill.

Ross’s team won the game comfortably to claim the title of Fours Champions for the 2023/24 season.

The men’s games saw 10 teams compete in what was a long day, with the weather closing in as they finished after 7pm.

The rand final was between the teams of Strawb Masters, Aaron Emonson, Andre Reinders and David Reichelt against Peter Scanlon, Steve Carnellor, John Buhlman and Alan Correll.

By the seventh end just one shot separated the two sides, but by the 11th end the margin had gone out to four shots, with Masters on 13 and Scanlon nine.

However, by the 17th end that lead had been eroded, with both teams on 16 with only one end to play.

The Masters team won the last end by two shots to give them the title of Fours Champions for the 2023/24 season.
