IN what was possibly one of the upsets of the Mid South East football Round 8 games, Tantanoola claimed a strong victory over Glencoe to throw further interest in the 2023 season.

It was a strong display from the Tigers, who won every quarter bar the last.

After leading by a tentative six points at the first break, the Tigers then banged on four major scores and six behinds, while holding the Murphies to just four behinds.

That opened the margin to 32 points at the long break and put the Tigers in the ideal position to claim a much-needed victory.

An even bigger third term all-but put the game to bed, with the Tigers up by a healthy 50-point margin at the final break.

Glencoe then ran the game out well, with three major scores while holding the Tigers goal-less, but it was too little, too late, as Tantanoola celebrated with a comfortable 34-point victory.

Goals were shared around for the victors, with Jack Dawe, Troy Hatt, Chris McCallum and Matthew Sorella all kicking two goals.

For Glencoe, only Alex Hentschke kicked multiple goals, with three to his name.

For the victors, Troy Hatt, Dawe, Braydn Reilly, Cade Kelly and McCallum were named best, while for Glencoe, the honours went to Sam Giersch, Trent Hawke, Dylan Childs, Tom Edwards, Jack Edmonds and Hentschke.

Glencoe sits down in sixth spot on the ladder, just one rung ahead of Tantanoola and eight points behind the fifth-placed Hatherleigh.
