IAN Harris is Blue Lake Archers most prolific competitor and is regularly active in far flung locations, be it a small club shoot or a major tournament.

Harris’s most recent away event was the 2022 Pan Pacific Masters Games held at the Gold Coast over the weekend.

Competition results were based on an accumulated score of two events over the two days, a WA 60/900 round on Saturday was followed up by a WA 50/720 on Sunday.

Harris was competing in the 70+ Male Compound Bow division.

A call to local members from Harris Saturday confirmed he had won the first round and was in contention for the gold medal.

Sunday’s competition results had Harris retain his dominance and was able to claim the gold medal with Barry Hansen runner-up in the division.

On the local front the club welcomed another new member, Anthony Cox, who has chosen the compound bow division to compete in, Cox kicking off his archery competition journey in Sunday afternoon’s outdoor event.

The local weekend competition started with Friday night’s indoor archery, with a pair of Australian 18-metre rounds.

Round one was Fiona Allison’s first time in the winners position and the second round went to Tamika Mullan, the women showing the men a clean pair of heels.

Sunday the outdoor competition followed the precedent set the previous week, all archers competing in one competition but in different rounds, this week it was a combination of WA 50/720 and WA 30/720 rounds.

Jeff Puckridge picked up the win, while Paul Freeman and Mullan tussled over runner-up honours.

Freeman finally settled the position by outpacing Mullan by two points.

Indoor archery continues at Blue Lake Gymnastics Club, Malseed Park on Friday at 7pm, followed by outdoor archery at Corriedale Park from 12.30pm Sunday.
