BRYCE CUTTING continued his impressive form of late with a score of 39 points to claim the win in last Thursday’s round at the Mount Gambier Golf Club.

Cutting set the benchmark early in the day and no one was able to match him.

He started off his round with a wipe on the first but he quickly recovered with a par on the second and a birdie on the eighth.

Cutting finished the front nine with a score of 17 points.

On the back nine, Cutting came to life and played the next seven holes square to the card and picked up another five three-pointers along the way.

A disappointing bogey on the last hole meant an elusive 40 points slipped from his grasp.

Wayne Sampson was runner-up with a score of 38 and took home the $50 consolation prize.

He was followed by Matt Bryant and Paul Kenny, who both scored 37.

The ball run down extended to 34 points and Leigh McCracken claimed the final ball.

The pro-shot on the eighth hole went to Neil Quirk and Pat O’Donnell on the 16th.

However, neither player was able to sink the birdie putt which followed.

On Saturday, there was a Pairs Aggregate stableford competition, with 46 teams involved.

Players were treated to cool but dry and sunny conditions on a day made to play golf.

At the end of the day, the teams could not be separated in a round which went down to the wire.

Craig Torney and David Pick posted 70 points, only to be matched by Tim Kenny and Pepe Pace, along with Kenny and Darren Turner and finally McCracken and Tim Maclean.

The round was decided on a countback as Torney and Pick claimed victory and won the $40 vouchers.

The ball rundown extended to 62 points as Paul Kenny and Tony Revill claimed the final prizes.

Garry Button was the nearest to the pin on the eighth and Pace was the nearest on the 16th as he knocked down his birdie putt from just 30cm.
