Nail-biting win for Tantanoola

An exciting contest took place at Tantanoola in Round 13 of Mid South East netball.

The visitors won the toss and chose the centre pass which was utilised effectively through Maddie Pulmer and Abby Wight.

Hatherleigh capitalised on errors by Tantanoola to take an early lead.

Erin Watson and Georgia Hunter moved the ball quickly into the Eagles’ attack.

The Tigers took time to adjust to a new-look attack but Isabelle Turner was able to find Emma Gould who shot with accuracy.

Tantanoola fought back to trail by just one goal at quarter time.

Tegan Telfer, Lara MacGregor and Demi Vanderhorst were rock-solid defensively for Hatherleigh.

As a result, the Eagles went into the main break with a two-goal lead.

The third quarter was a hard-fought contest as the Tigers clawed their way back into the contest and found some momentum.

Hatherleigh’s defence held strong and led by one goal with one quarter to play.

Tantanoola capitalised on some crucial turnovers and was in the lead for the first time in the match.

As the pressure heated up, the Eagles made the most of a turnover to bring the scores level once again.

In a dramatic finale both sides went goal for goal before a late challenge by Hatherleigh saw Gould win a penalty shot, which she converted to win her side the game.

Gould and Turner were the best players for Tantanoola, while Pulmer and Telfer were the best for Hatherleigh.
