With Demon Liza Mutch absent, Brooke Williams took the centre and played on the speedy Mozzie, Laura Schultz.

Mount Burr’s line up has been unsettled in past weeks but the mid-season addition of Sarah Nulty has worked in the Mozzies’ favour.

The goalie combo of Nulty and Ebony Clarke worked in sync and were on from the first whistle.

Port MacDonnell’s defensive combo of Belinda O’Dine and Alana Winter worked hard to combat the Mozzies.

However Mount Burr was too good in the first quarter as it went first break with a seven-goal lead.

Both sides started strongly in the second quarter and shot with impressive accuracy.

Kirby Carrison did not miss a shot in the quarter for Port MacDonnell, even amidst the high levels of defensive pressure created from Madi Haggett and Olivia Dean.

The Demons’ court transition was smooth as Williams and Narelle Lewis got their hands on the ball regularly.

Schultz was consistent through the middle and was a strong leader on the court.

A few missed goals from the Mozzies created rebounding opportunities for the Bay.

Haggett and Dean continued to apply pressure as they worked hard to limit the opportunities for the home side.

After a tight quarter, Mount Burr held a 10-goal lead as it went into the final term.

Port MacDonnell’s Williams and Lewis stepped up in the final quarter, while Haggett took control in defence for Mount Burr.

A few missed opportunities allowed the Bay’s defence to gain crucial rebounds and managed to close the margin but it was too little, too late as the Mozzies held on to win.

Winter and Williams were the best on court for Port MacDonnell, while Nulty and Schultz put in strong performance to be named Mount Burr’s best.
