Season honours handed out

THE Port MacDonnell Sailing Club rounded out its season recently with a presentation night at the Victoria Hotel.

The final races of the season were held on the last weekend of March, with results then tallied and the winners of the trophy races and the Austral series were calculated.

Skippers and crew members for all boats that raced during the 2021-2022 sailing season were in attendance at the presentation, along with family members, sponsors and life members of the club.

The winner of the CJ & ML Tollner Trophy was won by Kevin Knott on Austral20, Easy Going.

The Morambo Creek Trophy was awarded to Nick Watson on his Sabre, Billy.

The Victoria Hotel Trophy, new for this season, was awarded to new boat to the club Austral20, Minty, skippered by Stephen Dyble.

The Gaylard family trophy was awarded to Jennifer Jones on Court650, Pinky.

It was an impressive effort for not only a new boat to the club but it was also Jones’s first season as skipper.

The Taylor Marine trophy went to Dennis Illman on Austral20, Mirage, while the Mount Glass and Glazing trophy went to Robin White on Austral20, Salt Peter.

The trophy for the Discovery Bay Coastal Classic was donated by Dave and Mary Evans.

Tom Paltridge won the classic on Austral20, Windy Fred.

The Handicap Point Score Aggregate trophy was awarded to Watson on Billy, with the trophy donated to the club by Shayne Horrigan and John Kentish, then presented on the night by John Kentish.

Watson was also awarded the Class Basic Handicap Point Score Aggregate and Jordan Family perpetual trophy.

The trophy for the Austral Class Championship, donated by life members Neil and Bernice Dickins, was awarded to Paltridge on Windy Fred.

The Starting Gun trophy, donated by Craig Smith, was also awarded to Watson on Billy, awarded for the boat which crossed the start line first in the most races over the season.
