THERE were celebrations amongst the Lower South East bowls community on Friday when Port MacDonnell’s Heather Richards was awarded the South Australian administrator of the year.

Richards is the secretary for the Port MacDonnell Bowling Club and was rewarded for her work at the 2022 SA Awards night in Adelaide.

“I was surprised to win this but it was a great honour,” Richards said.

“I have been doing this for 30 years so I have had plenty of practice.”

Richards said she has always made sure she has done a good job with her work.

She was nominated for the award by Patrick Lynch from the Lower South East Bowls Association.

“She has been an outstanding administrator,” Lynch said.

Lynch was in attendance on the night alongside Richards.

“It was a great night and we are all very proud of her,” he said.

Richards has been the secretary for the Lower South East Bowls Association since its inception in 2012.

She was previously the president of the South East Women’s Bowls Association for five years and is currently a selector at regional level.

Along with Richards’ efforts as an administrator, she has led by example on the greens and won numerous Club Championships and played at state level.
