KALANGADOO hosted Tantanoola in the annual Indigenous round for Mid South East netball on Saturday and used its home court to advantage, with a solid 21-goal victory.

Both teams tussled early in the contest, going goal-for-goal as both scored with ease.

Tantanoola’s Emma Gould was a focal point in the goal circle for her side and was fed precisely by wing attack Casey Walker.

Kalangadoo took until mid-way through the quarter to find some momentum and went into the first break with a four-goal advantage.

In the second quarter the Kalangadoo defence of Lauren Kain and Reanna Wetherall stepped up their pressure and gave the Magpies’ goalies plenty of opportunities to convert.

Kalangadoo’s Sophie Wrightson worked hard at wing defence to limit Walker’s feeding opportunities and created turnovers for her side.

The Magpies extended their advantage at the main break with a 10-goal lead.

Both teams remained unchanged going into the third quarter which saw Tantanoola’s defence of Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe make Kalangadoo goalies, Kori Collins and Abbey Duncan, earn every possession.

Kalangadoo wing attack Kirsty Egan was able to find space and feed her goalies accurately and the Magpies were able to extend the lead to 16 at the final break.

Tantanoola made positional changes to the mid-court going into the final quarter, moving Casey Walker to wing defence, Madi Kelly to wing attack and Kristy Varcoe to centre.

Kalangadoo was again able to extend the lead to finish the match with a solid victory.

Kalangadoo’s Jayde Peacock was awarded the Brennan Family Indigenous Medal.

Best players for the victors were Wrightson and Kain, while Casey Walker and Gould were best for Tantanoola.
