International honours for mother and daughter

MOUNT Gambier’s Fiona Pearson and Keisha Pearson’s dreams have come true after they were selected in the Australian Indoor Bias Bowls team.

The Mount Gambier District Indoor Bowls Association bowlers were selected after three days of intense trials in Ballarat recently.

The mother/daughter duo’s main challenge was to adapt to the smaller carpet used at international level.

The Australian side will compete in a Trans-Tasman Test against New Zealand in Ballarat in September.

This is the third time that Fiona has earnt the honour of being called up to the Australian side and the first time that Keisha has been called up.

Keisha was jubilant when she was selected in her first time trialling for the side.

Fiona will represent Australia in the Women’s Singles and the Mixed eight bowl Pairs.

Her daughter will play as a lead in the Women’s Triples team.

Keisha will also lead the Mixed Fours team.

They are the only two South Australians in the national side for the upcoming series.
