Successful open day at Blue Lake Golf Club

THERE were 70 golfers from eight different clubs across the Limestone Coast and Western Victoria region that took part in the annual women’s open day at the Blue Lake Golf Club.

Players were treated to perfect Autumn weather for the two-person Ambrose competition on May 19.

Millicent’s Kirsty Bailey and Mary Winser had the best gross score of the day with 75.

Mount Gambier’s Kerry Pedlar and Jannina Morrison claimed second place with a score of 78.

The best nett score went to Millicent’s Virgina DeDonatis and Robyn Walters on 70.75.

The Blue lake team of Bev Pascoe and Ronda Edwards were second with a score of 72, while Cherryl Hill and Carol Melhuish rounded out the top three.

Golfers had to contend with poor weather for last Wednesday’s Grant and Dianne Perryman Short course trophy played in stroke format.

A count-back was required to determine the winner for Division 1 when Ronda Edwards and Dianne Perryman ended on an impressive score of 65.

Edwards claimed the win on count-back, with five pars and six birdies on the day.

Perryman recorded an impressive 11 pars throughout her round.

Rosemary Martland was third place with a score of 68, which included 10 pars.

Dianne Allen claimed the win in Division 2 with a score of 65.

Allen recorded a par on the seventh hole and a birdie on the 13th.

She survived a count-back from Lee Anderson, who also scored 65.

Anderson’s day was highlighted with a par on the fifth hole.

Lesley McPherson finished third with a score of 70.
