There was no respite for Nangwarry when they hosted Glencoe in Round 3 of Mid South East netball on Saturday.

While the Saints were up and about due to the opening of their clubrooms to the public, it made no difference on the court as Glencoe simply ran rampant.

Glencoe came out strong in the opening quartyer and capitalised on every opportunity.

Jenna Paproth and Chantelle Cocks moved well and converted all turnovers.

Nangwarry started to settle, with Hayley Burner and Kylie Heaver creating space and moving the ball around the circle well, while Cassie Dinnison and Tahlia Wilson both positioned well and scored every opportunity they had.

Sarah Edwards took some very well-timed intercepts, which allowed Donna Jaeschke and Ashlea Edwards to bring the ball down with ease.

Shannon Higgins and Tahlia Puckeridge continued to work hard to stop the dominance of Paproth and Cocks but with Cocks’ height and strong holding they found it hard to stop. Glencoe went to the first break with a 15-goal advantage.

Nangwarry made a few changes at quarter time, with Higgins back to goal keeper, Burner to goal defence, Puckeridge to wing defence and Ebony Lawson to centre.

These changes seemed to help the Saints stop the run of Glencoe but the visitors continued their strong performance.

Burner and Higgins combined well in defence to make it tough for Glencoe’s shooters and their feeders to get the ball inside.

Donna Edwards had a strong presence for Glencoe and enjoyed a good tussle with Lawson.

Kylie Heaver and Ashlea Edwards both worked hard for their teams to provide drive in and out of attack.

The Glencoe goalies in Paproth and Cocks continued their accuracy, while Sarah Edwards and Chloe Pfitzner worked hard in the circle and were too strong for Dinnison and Wilson.

However, Tahlia Wilson held well and managed to convert a few needed goals for Nangwarry.

With a 27-goal advantage at the main break, Glencoe came out firing and lifted a notch, working the ball down the court well.

Higgins and Burner continued to work hard and take intercepts that were converted well by Dinnison and Wilson.

Jaeschke ran well through the centre for Glencoe to create space, while Sarah Edwards continued to take some strong intercepts.

By the final term the contest was well beyond the Saints but they continued to swing changes in the hope of slowing the Murphies’ progress.

However, Glencoe continued with their dominance, with Paproth and Cocks working hard to convert every opportunity.

In the end, despite all the Saints’ efforts, Glencoe’s experience shone through with a comfortable victory.

Best players for Glencoe were Cocks and Ashlea Edwards, while Burner and Higgins

were best for Nangwarry.
