Shooters return to action

THE Mount Gambier Gun Club held its monthly competition on April 9.

Shooters had to contend with strong gusts of winds but it failed to deter the competitors with perfect scores still recorded.

The first event was the Nutrien AG Solutions 25 tgt Skeet Handicap.

This competition was closely contested with nine shooters forced to shoot-off for the top-five positions.

Tristan McKinnon claimed the victory with a score of 46/48, followed by Darren Beyer on 45/48.

Willis Jenkins, Steve Chambers and Greg Kessegian rounded-out the top-five of the first event.

The second event to take place was the Carlin & Gazzard 25 tgt Single Barrel Championship.

It was an impressive performance from the shooters as Gavin Height claimed the overall win with a perfect 25/35.

Max Medhurst finished a close second in AA Grade with 24/25.

Andrew Hoare claimed the A Grade victory with 23/25 from Steve Chambers on 22/28.

Dale Robertson edged out Mick Rudd to claim the B Grade win while Gezenius Bok defeated Andrew McKinnon in a shoot-off to win C grade.

The final event was the Blue Lake Golf Club 25 tgt Double Barrell Championship as multiple shooters ended with perfect scores.

Barry Sims claimed the AA Grade win with a perfect score after a shoot-off.

Sims ended on 35/35 as he defeated Willis Jenkins on 34/35.

Kevin Mules claimed the A grade win with another perfect score on 32/32.

Mules was followed by Ken Atkin in second-place with 31/32.

Dale Robertson claimed a thrilling shoot-off win over Rodney Gilcrist in B Grade.

Robertson ended the competition with a perfect score of 42/42 over Gilcrist on 41/42.

Brian Case claimed the C Grade win over Gezenius Blok.

The South East Autotrade Highgun award over the three events was won by Darren Beyer with an impressive score of 72/75.
