ANOTHER win will be in South Gambier’s sights tomorrow when it hosts East Gambier at Blue Lake Sports Park for Round 2 of Western Border football.

The Demons had a successful roadtrip to Millicent last week where they knocked over the reigning premier by 25 points to start their season on a high note.

On the other hand East fell to North Gambier last week and will be hungry for a win.

However, it has a tough task on its hands against a team which looks to be a frontrunner in the competition again this year.

The Bulldogs’ recruits performed well in Round 1 with Carl Slape working hard in the ruck and around the ground, while Garret Ha popped up with a goal in his debut in red and black.

Coach Matthew Scanlon led by example with two majors and East will need another solid showing from its experience leaders.

A full-team effort will be needed to get through the Demons’ defence, as Taylor Saffin and James Paprotny enter the clash off impressive games against the Saints.

The speed and talent of South’s youth will be another obstacle to address.

The Demons had two A Grade debutantes in their best players with Liam Delaney popping up with two goals in an impressive first step in senior company.

Brayden Kain was again a spearhead in front of goals, with South’s coach bagging four majors against the Saints last week.

He joined a diverse list of goal scorers with a total of eight players contributing to South’s 16-goal effort.

East defenders will have their work cut out for them and will need to brace for impact from all avenues.

As such the Bulldogs are expected to record a second loss to start their season, while South should remain undefeated heading into the Easter break.
