ROUND 6 of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League faced some issues, with the Kalangadoo v Mundulla clash abandoned due to a lack of personnel.

Due to various reasons, from Covid-19, to a wedding and a coach stranded, it was not possible to put two teams on the ground.

Regardless, the remaining three matches went ahead, with one game at McLaughlin Park in Millicent on Friday night, before the remaining two fixtures at Kongorong.

CASTERTON SANDFORD 14.16 (100) d MILLICENT 0.0 (0)

UNFORTUNATLEY for Millicent, the home-ground advantage did little for the side, as the Saints were unable to bother the scorers against a tough Casterton Sandford roster.

The Cats were simply too strong in all respects, with a constant run of scoring to run out emphatic victors.

Sophie Arkun and Lauren Sykes topped the list with three majors each, while Gabrielle Sullivan added two.

Best for the victors were Arkun, Zhane Crawford, Sullivan, Sykes, Scarlett Jarrad and Chloe Smith.

Best for Millicent were Laura Chester, Chloe Gronn, Michelle Robinson, Lauren Potter, Megan Tilby and Amy-Lee Hay.

KYBYBOLITE 10.7 (67) d PENOLA 4.2 (26)

WHILE Kybybolite made comfortable work of its victory over Penola at Kongorong, the first half of the game was anything but cut and dried.

The competition was fierce and the Penola women ensured Kyby did not have it their own way.

However, the class began to win out and in theend Kyby was simply too strong and ran away with the game.

Stand out performances in front of goals came from Lily Gill and Sophie Henschke for the victors, with four majors each.

Not to be outdone, Angela Broad banged on three goals for Penola.

Ella Jones, Tyler Atkinson, Dellie Brown, Victoria Boddington, Gill and Chloe McWhinney werenamed best for Kyby, while for Penola, Caroline McGrath, Broad, Emma MacDonald, Shandeen Balshaw, Heidi Berkin and Riley Mitchell were given the nod.

KONGORONG 4.4 (28) d NORTH GAMBIER 3.7 (25)

THE final game of the round was the closest, as Kongorong and North Gambier looked to improve their positions.

In what panned out as an entertaining clash, Kongorong claimed the win, as the Tigers were left wondering what could have been.

A couple of extra scoring shots to North could have made the difference but in the end the accuracy in front of goals with the prevailing wind proved a tough prospect.

Taylor Cozzi kicked two goals for the victors, as did Dianne Wilson for North.

Best for North were Carly Ploenges, Lorrelle Walker, Fiona Young, Chloe Perryman, Piper Killick and Dana Jones, while for the victors, Jade Longbottom, Hannah Kuhl-Miller, Evie Sealey, Sarah Lucas, Stevi Clayton and Alisha Angelino were named best.
