Young shooter claims top honours

SUB-JUNIOR shooter Darci Bell bucked the trend to claim the overall high-gun honours at the Lake Bonney Sporting Clays opening shoot of the 2022 season.

The 75-target hanciapped event attracted 82 shooters, with a long list of sponsors including, Pete and Lee Sims, Williams Crane Hire, Dave’s Paint and Panel, Lots More Ag, Collins Court Butcher, Bownmans Earthmovers, Millicent Tyre Centre and J&M Shanks Engineering.

Apart from the high-gun honours, other grades included some close competition.

AA grade was won by Mark Fabris ahead of Jeremy Kent and Gavin Dyson.

John Lavia took the top honors in A grade, with Rob Whitty in second and Tim Widdison in third. Lake Bonney shooter Plum Werchon won B grade, six targets in front of Herb Whitehead, while Darren Murrel rounded out the posium.

C grade went to Mick Glen, from Trevor Whitehead and Neville Jackson.

The top three spots in Veterns needed a count-back after all three shooters returned the same score.

Wayne Evens was given the nod, ahead of Geoff Lowe and Peter Klieve.

Bruce Oakley won the Seniors grade from Burrungule shooter Chris Wright.

The Ladies grade was taken out by Sonya Vanderhorst, from Delia O’Daniel, with Sam Freeman in third.

Declan Wright won the Juniors, just three targets ahead of Brodie VonStanke.

Sub-juniors went to James Whitty, from Noah VonStanke and Axl VonStanke.
