Action aplenty at Penola

MEN'S HANDICAP SINGLES: Winner Scott Degenhardt, with runner-up Ken Batt.

IT has been a busy time at the Penola Bowls Club, with the Ladies Championship Triples and the Men’s Handicap Singles decided.

Last week the women’s Triples saw some close games leading into the final.

However, it was Lyn Brodie, Christine Skeer and Kay Fennell who took out the title over Heather Lambert, Margaret Hanel and Sue Lamont.

The men’s Singles were played in warm conditions on Saturday, again with some tight contests leading into the final.

Scott Degenhardt and Ken Batt played off in the final with a close game.

Neither player was able to take a decisive lead, with the game going right down to the last end.

Degenhardt held his nerve and claimed the last two shots to claim the honours.

On Friday the women’s Division 1 Pennant team enjoyed a good win over Mount Gambier RSL Red by eight shots, 49-41.

Division 2 battled with the wind at Beachport against Blue but came out with a win by 16 shots 51-35 and Division 3 had a tough day on the green, going down to Lucindale by 29 shots 32-61.

There will be no Pennants this Friday, while on Saturday Open Division 2 travels to Mount Gambier RSL, Division 3 hosts Millicent Blue and Division 4 travels to Naracoorte.
