THE South East Automobile Club’s 2019 khanacross season kicks off this Saturday, with a multi-club event held at the rear of the Heywood Football Oval complex.

This first round of the SEAC series is also the season-opener for the Victorian Khanacross Championship, which SEAC competitors managed to win the club trophy for in 2018.

Competition will again be strong as the Victorian clubs seek revenge, but SEAC’s top crews will be pushing for a repeat of the series in 2019.

Khanacross trio Damien, Geoff and Phil Wilson will lead the charge following a good season last year that saw them clean up the podium in the SEAC series.

Other club competitors, Bruce Hamilton, Liam Lewis and Tristan Crowe will be all out in their large cars.

The Winterfield pair will also be on the pace in their Hyundai.

Bradley Harry and Cohen Hamilton will lead the charge in the Junior ranks, but will face strong opposition from the Victorian drivers.

Heywood man Kym Barclay, along with his team of helpers, will no doubt prepare another great track layout in the reserve behind the football oval.

The competition is held in conjunction with the Heywood Wood, Wine and Roses event, alongside tractor pull and dirt bike layouts.

It will be an interesting day of racing, as off-season maintenance will see some changes to last year’s vehicles, which could make them more or less competitive.

Drivers are reminded entries close at 6.30pm today.

Book in and scrutineering for the event is from 9am to 10am Victorian time, with drivers briefing at 10.15am for a 10.30am start.
