Comedian wins interstate heat

A MOUNT Gambier man has made it through the first round of Australia’s biggest and most prestigious stand-up comedy competition, RAW Comedy.

Attracting more than 1000 contestants each year, Tim Rochow is one local comedian to have some earlier success in the competition.

Winning his heat in Warnambool, Tim will now head to the next round in Melbourne to battle it out with some of the best in this year’s competition.

After 65 gigs in capital cities and regional centres across the country, only a dozen emerging comics make the cut.

For over 20 years RAW Comedy has seen performers ride that comedy wave and has launched the career of a number of well-known comedians.

Past winners include Hannah Gadsby, who has shot to international fame with her smash hit Netflix special Nanette, Ronny Chieng, Celia Pacquola, Anne Edmonds, Luke McGregor and Rhys Nicholson just to name a few.

Now it’s Mount Gambier’s turn to have a go at the crown.

Tim Rochow will also star in Ministry of Laugh’s highly popular stand-up event ‘ONE NIGHT ONLY’ returning to this year’s Fringe Mount Gambier Festival.

If you’re looking for a good belly laugh, then come along for one and a half hours of hilarity and see some of the best comedy talent and a few surprise guests from the Adelaide and Mount Gambier Fringe Festivals.
