THE South East Crows Supporters Group is gearing up for another end-of-year function, with a different approach to its guest speaker for 2018.

In previous years the group has managed to bring in big names such as Eddie Betts and Taylor Walker, while last year saw grand final ruckman Sam Jacobs entertain the crowd.

This year they have gone with some young blood who has a connection to the Limestone Coast.

Former Lucindale footballer Darcy Fogarty was the Crows first pick in the 2017 draft and has looked to break into the senior side since.

He made his debut in the opening round this season, playing 10 games for a return of nine goals.

While the more experienced players certainly have a lot to speak about, the supporters group president Trevor Roberts said this would be a different approach, with the young star sure to share his journey so far about the ups and downs of chasing an AFL dream.

“Darcy started in the Crows this year and has played a few games,” he said.

“Next year could be different for him, depending on what (Mitch) McGovern does.

“He has the ability and is not scared to crash a pack.

“He is just an old fashioned country footballer.”

To complement the young star will be Barney McCusker in his role as master of ceremonies.

“Barney is like a walking encyclopaedia,” Roberts said.

“You would think his profession would be all he could think of, but he is a really good MC and knows what he is on about.”

The night will take place on Friday, October 26 at the Blue Lake Golf Links.

Roberts said the location worked well last year, with the big room the ideal platform, allowing all in attendance a good view.

Membership in the supporters group is not a requirement to attend the night, with anyone interested more than welcome.

The group itself is roughly 115 members strong and is always on the lookout for new supporters to join.

The average season includes several get-togethers, along with a progressive mystery dinner mid-season.

Anyone interested in attending end-of-year function can contact the group on 8723 6000.
