THE Division 1 Mount Gambier RSL Red team kept to its trend this season when it won the final minor round match against Port MacDonnell on its home greens.

The game was tight early, but the RSL was in control across all three rinks in the second half and limited Port MacDonnell’s scoring opportunities.

Jason Kuring, Peter Roachock, Rex Heins and Neil Tobin played Greg Fisher, Ron Cox, Bill Richards and Adam Wilson.

After an even first half, the RSL had slipped behind by the 16th end.

However, they won all but one of the next nine ends to power home 29-20.

Jamie Lambert, Ralph Stafford, Michael Fox and Graham Ellis out-bowled Wally Tarca, Peter Bruhn, Heather Richards and Marcus Pietersma from the 16th end.

The RSL scored 13 shot to two in the last 10 ends to win 28-16.

It was a similar result for Robert Corner, Deane Wilkinson, Chris Waugh and Andy Ashby as they took on Bruce Bain, Judy Grosvenor, David Gould and Chris Richards.

Ashby’s four maintained a firm grip on the game and allowed the guests only slim pickings, winning 24-15 in the end.
