Golf: Headlam aces sixth hole at Attamurra

AT THE FLAG: Anne Headlam retrieves her ball from the hole after a hole-in-one on the sixth green at the Attamurra golf course last week.

ANNE Headlam was the talk of the Attamurra golf course last week after achieving a hole-in-one on the sixth hole.

Headlam was told by her playing partners the green was all hers, after they had all missed the target.

She then promptly pulled out her five hybrid club and aced it.

But Headlam had seen it all before, being her second hole-in-one, but the first for the women in two years.

The field was slightly down in numbers, due to the heat, with 27 women competed in the second round of the Summer Salver.

Despite Headlam’s hole-in-one, it was Kate McCormick who led the field with a great stableford score of 37 points.

Heather Teakle came home in second place with 36, ahead of Helen Gregory with 34.

Teakle, Gregory, Kerry Pedlar, Chris Galpin and Jennette Braun all received a ball in the run-down competition.

The nearest the pin prizes on the sixth hole was was Headlam in A Grade, Betty McKechnie in B Grade and Heather Hadnum in C Grade.

Three balls went to Sue Coulter with a great shot on the eighth hole to win the pro-shot.

Today’s round will be the third round of the Summer Salver and is played as a stroke round.
