Wattle Range Council Australia Day

Community Event of the Year was Millicent GeoVenture 2020. This event was estimated to have brought at least $80,000 into the area with people visiting to use Global Positioning Systems to find hundreds of containers, called geocaches, hidden around the Millicent and surrounding districts. DUE to the cancellation of traditional Australia Day breakfasts and award ceremonies all around the region as a result of Covid-19 concerns, Wattle Range Council held its restricted attendance event at the Millicent Civic and Arts Centre on Wednesday where all Award winners from throughout the council area were presented with their awards.

Also at the event, six people from around the Council area became new Australian citizens with a naturalisation ceremony conducted by Mayor Des Noll.

See the South Eastern Times page in this edition of The Border Watch for a further report on the Citizenship ceremony.
