Nora Creina Golf Course gains provisional development approval

A HIGH quality golfing and tourism experience – The Nora Creina Golf Course and Tourism Resort – located between Robe and Beachport has been granted provisional development approval.

The proposed two 18-hole international standard “link style” golf course and clubhouse is expected to cost $20m and create 33 jobs in South Australia through development and an additional 170 full time jobs once operational.

This in turn is expected to increase international and domestic tourism spending by $4.5m each year.

Modelled on the Northern Tasmanian course Barnbougle, Tourism Minister Leon Bignell said they want to capitalise on the growing international golf tourism market.

“Nora Creina presents a fantastic opportunity to position the South East as a must-see global destination, expanding the local economy and creating hundreds of new jobs,” he said.

The proposal also includes a tourism and function centre, a range of premium quality tourist accommodation options, including exclusive 7-star retreats, and a wellness centre.

Additional recreation opportunities such as diving, snorkelling, kayaking and fishing and walking trails would also be provided.

However, further investigations are set to be undertaken with guidance provided by the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, before final approval can be given and construction can commence.
