ALL British Classic Car Club members were farewelled by Mount Gambier City Council mayor Andrew Lee on Wednesday morning after spending three days in the city as part of their annual Fly the Flag tour.

The car tour, now in its 17th year, route began in Melbourne before heading to South Muckleford, Maldon, Dunolly, Saint Arnaud, Rupanyup, Horsham, Balmoral, Coleraine, Merino, Mount Gambier, Penola, Portland, Hamilton, Ararat, Maryborough, Bendigo, Heathcote, Seymour and Yea, before finishing at Yarra Glen.

Participants will travel a total distance of approximately 1345km over the tour.

“It has been a fantastic tour so far and we have enjoyed our time in the city,” All British Classic Car Club president Tony Pettigrew said.

“It is great to see the school children getting enjoyment out of seeing the cars on the tour as well, we love seeing them out and about welcoming us.”

During their time in Mount Gambier, the group dined at The Barn Palais, where the mayor made a welcome speech before also making a day trip to Penola where the group had lunch.

“It has been a wonderful time having the car club here in Mount Gambier and it has been great for the economy,” Mr Lee said.

“I think the city has left a great impression on them and they have enjoyed all the facilities on offer.”
