LIMESTONE Coast families will be able to soak up the sunlight at the wonderful grounds of Rymill Coonawarra as it revives the Coonawarra Carnival.

Part of the month-long Coonawarra Cabernet event, the family fun day will host a range of activities tailored for all ages with beer from the Woolstore Brewery also available.

Rymill Coonawarra acting general manager Jamie McDonald said staff decided to bring back the event to the community after a number of years.

Mr McDonald encouraged community members to attend the day, with children able to entertain themselves with jumping castles, food trucks and live performances.

“We are hoping for a fine sunny day with lots of fun and if the weather doesn’t play nice we will still go ahead under a marquee,” Mr McDonald said.

“It is a good excuse to get out to Coonawarra and there will be buses coming through from around the region but if people do plan on coming in with a big group we do ask they call ahead to let us know.”

Mr McDonald said the easing of restrictions – such as standing whilst drinking – could not have come at a better time.

“With the restrictions regarding vertical consumption outdoors changing it is a real positive addition to the event and over the years the carnival has varied with attendees but we are expecting at least a couple of hundred.”

Entry for the event is free for all with the doors opening at 10am on October 9.
