THE Mount Gambier Croquet club members look forward to getting back to competition after bird damage halted all play for over a month.

The grounds members have volunteered many hours to return the courts to a good playing condition and are now back to weekly play, resuming the Laslett Cup competition.

The first day back on the courts welcomed visitors Geoff and Gaylene from Coffs Harbour, who have been travelling in their caravan for six months, visiting croquet clubs on their journey.

They were impressed with the Mount Gambier courts when comparing them to others they had visited around the country.

Meanwhile, some of the members are off to compete in The Mount Barker Gala Day to be held on the April 20.

the club is keen to welcome new members, with those interested able to “come and try” the game before making their decision.
