Still plenty of action at Robe

SOCIAL bowls at the Robe Bowling Club on Thursday was sponsored by Robe Mitre 10.

Jan and John Arnold from Rupanyup were welcomed back and with 14 members, played two games of 2x4x2.

There were two two-game winners.

The winners on 54 points were Robbie Dahler and Dean Burgoyne, ahead of John Arnold and Josh Waddell on 53.

Saturday social bowls was sponsored by the Robe Bowling Club, with the winners getting their green fees back.

Twelve players played two games of 2x4x2 and the winners on 54 points were Bill Cook and David Robinson, ahead of Lorraine Dening and Jan Arnold on 33.

Sunday the Lower South East Bowls Association Champion of Champion Singles was played at Port MacDonnell, with Peter and Fleur Roachock representing the Robe Bowling Club.

Peter lost in the first round, defeated by Graeme East from Naracoorte RSL, who went on to win the final.

Fleur won through to the final where she had to play multiple winner Heather Richards.

Both players had seven shots on the ninth end, then Heather scored a four on the eighth end and kept her score in front for the rest of the game.

Fluer won five of the last seven ends making Heather work for her winning score 25-23.

A reminder to members and visitors social bowls is played on Thursday and Saturday now pennant has finished.

The Men’s Triples tournament is on Sunday, April 14 and Robe v Mortlake on Saturday April 13.
