EAST GAMBIER 7-d/79 v MIL LEL 10/67 – 1/11

EAST Gambier will chase an outright victory over Mil Lel on Saturday when the second and fourth-placed sides resume their Round 10 Barber Shield battle.

The pitch out at Alan Scott Park remains a dangerous place to be a batsmen and on Day 1 the bowlers reigned supreme.

Mil Lel was all out for 67, before the Bulldogs padded up to post a score of 7/79 and then declare.

The remaining four overs were seen out by Mil Lel, who finished with an overnight score of 1/11 after Darren Whitehorn’s early dismissal.

Nick Walters and Jarrod Sanders were left at stumps and will endeavour to start things well on Day 2.

They will be pleased with the absence of East captain Alex Hentschke, who is rumoured to be unavailable this weekend.

He can be a game changer and has proven that is the case on more than one occasion.

He claimed five scalps in the first innings and also held his own with the bat.

Emerson Marks will be out to impress first up, having taken 1/1 for the current innings.

Looking down the Mil Lel batting order and the likes of Darcy Williamson and Jack Miller will hope to support the tail order, while the opening batsmen will need to get the runs flowing to set up their side.

East also struggled with the bat on the first day and should it pad up again, Dion Stratford and Marks will be ones to watch after leading the Bulldogs at the crease.
