THE Castec Rural Pioneers have re-signed former three-time Championship player and former club captain, with Tom Daly returning for the 2024 NBL1 South season.

The 32 year old comes as a good boost to the men’s roster as the Pioneers finalise strong squads in both men’s and women’s teams.

Daly was a highly successful Pioneer for nine seasons, including five seasons as captain.

He is regularly recognised as the team’s best player on the court and has also played 55 matches for the Adelaide 36ers earlier in his career.

He will return to the court after not playing in the 2023 NBL1 season.

Pioneers men head coach Richard Hill acknowledged Daly as an integral part of the Pioneers’ previous successes and believes he remains perfectly placed to help the club to further triumphs.

“It’s tremendous news for the Club that our former captain and three-time SEABL champion is returning to the team,” Hill said.

“Tom will bring his familiar skillset, toughness and leadership and is working extremely hard to get back to his brilliant best.”

The Pioneers men and women are scheduled to play their first games in the 2024 NBL1 South season against Sandringham Sabres on April 6.

Their first home game at Wulanda will be against Frankston Blues on Saturday, April 13.
