Mount Gambier Lakers 81 d Colac Kookas 35

If there was any doubt about the deisre of the Mount Saturday night as the girls simply dismantled the Colac Kookas’ game at both ends of the floor.

The Kookas were simply not in the game, which was evident after a 23-8 opening term where the Lakers showed their hand.

That was followed up with an 18-2 second quarter and the game was over by the long break.

Somehow the Kookas found a way to score n the third term, with an equal result of 17 points each, but in the final stanza it was again Ava Collins with an impressive 22 points.

Tenielle Human dropped 17 points, Olivia Wormald 16 and Mikaela Horrigan 13 in a solid team effort.

The result instantly moved the Lakers up into playoffs contention, but with plenty of games ahead in the season.

Next weekend will be a big test for the Lakers as they face the top-placed Warrnambool Mermaids, a side that has lost just once – to the Millicent Magic.
