ENJOY a day out in the sun with your furry friends for a good cause at ‘For the Love of Dogz’ event next month.

K9’s with Kaz is holding the event in collaboration with Blackstone Dog Training and aims to raise awareness for responsible pet ownership and the importance of ongoing training and education when deciding to bring a new friend into your family.

Proceeds raised from raffle tickets, sale of doggie gift bags and ‘come and try’ agility course fee will be donated to the South East Animal Welfare League.

As both owner of K9’s with KAZ and SEAWL’s dog trainer, Karen Brooksby felt that the cause was close to her heart.

She said that she wanted to recognise the role that dogs have in our community and wanted to showcase this through the event.

“It’s not just about having a family pet, it’s about some of the roles that dogs have in the community and the way they assist the community,” she said.

“There are an amazing number of roles that dogs take on, which just shows their versatility, their intelligence and abilities.

“Therapy dogs, companion dogs, assistance dogs, story dogs, rehomed greyhounds, lots of working dogs out there that work – police dogs, airport dogs, sniffer dogs, tracking dogs and dogs that are used to help find missing people.”

‘For the Love of Dogz’ will include food and market stalls from various local businesses, novelty events, agility training showcasing and pet photography competitions.

A trailer will be set up on the day, where people can donate food for cats and dogs for SEAWL.

The event will take place at the Mount Gambier/Berrin Railway Lands on Sunday December 3 from 10am-2pm.
