AFTER a two-week hiatus, Millicent’s Magic women will return to the court for a Country Basketball League double header.

They opened the season with four games in two weeks and currently sit undefeated.

It has been the perfect start to their title defence and they will enter the weekend confident in their ability.

The Magic accounted for Portland Coasters by 20 points in Round 1 and they will look for a similar result on Saturday night at home.

That game showcased an impressive team effort, with Edie Easterby, Madison Haggett, Poppy Venn, Mackenzie Burke and Alana Berkefeld sharing the load and all shooting double figures.

Alexzia Petch will be one to watch for the Coasters, as she top scored for the match, but Millicent should have its opponent covered in most areas.

The home-court advantage will add further sway in the Magic’s favour, prior to an intriguing clash against Horsham Hornets on Sunday.

Horsham has only played one game this year, which came in the form of a 50-point thrashing over Colac Kookas in Round 2.

Emalie Iredell shot a huge 33 points, while Maddison Iredell (21) and Olivia Jones (18) also had their fair share of the action.

Up against the high-scoring Millicent, their meeting could be a hard-fought affair.

Currently the Magic boasts the five top scorers in the league, although with many teams still requiring catch-up games it is not the most accurate representation.

Regardless, Venn sits on top of the table with 71 points from four games.

She will look for another top performance, while the entire Millicent roster is capable of making a difference.

Saturday’s game tips off at 6pm at Peter Seebohm Stadium, followed by Sunday’s clash at 11.30am.
