Mid South East netball throws up a couple of interesting clashes this weekend, as teams jostle for position with minor rounds beginning to wind down.

MOUNT BURR V HATHERLEIGH

Mount Burr hosts Hatherleigh in what is set to be the match of the round.

Both sides sit outside the top four, with only Hatherleigh realistically a chance to break in.

Madi Haggett has recently returned to the Mount Burr side and her presence in the defensive circle when combined with Olivia Dean has had a massive impact for the Mozzies.

Hatherleigh’s Demi Vanderhorst and Maddie Pulmer work in unison in the goal circle, being fed well from outside by Erin Watson and Rosie Nettle.

Down the other end of the court Mount Burr’s accurate goalies Ebony Clark and Lauren Wheeler combine well in the goal circle.

Laura Schultz and Ella Easterby have strong drives to the circle and feed into their goalies with accuracy.

Hatherleigh’s Maddie Redman and Elly Redden will fight hard to create intercepts for the Eagles, chasing up any loose balls and feeding them back down the court.

This game is sure to be close, however Hatherleigh will likely finish the game with the win.

ROBE V GLENCOE

Glencoe heads to Robe to face off against the Roosters, in what should be another interesting clash.

While Glencoe sits pretty in second position on the ladder, the Roosters are fighting to hold on to that coveted fourth spot.

They will not lose it this week, but need a buffer to keep the other hopefuls at bay.

Therefore, Robe will need to utilise every chance that presents, scoring with every opportunity through Demi Carter and Tori Gluyas.

Glencoe defenders Sarah Edwards and Chelsea Owen are a strong combination, forcing errors and creating turnovers which will be worked down the court under the guidance of Donna Jaeschke into goalies Chantelle Cocks and Jenna Paproth.

Robe defenders Georgia Perkins and Emma Grant will need to work overtime in order to limit the scoring opportunities of Cocks and Paproth, fighting for every intercept, supported from outside of the circle by Ellen Ramke and Annie Regnier.

Both teams will fight hard for the win, but Glencoe should claim the points in an enticing clash.

NANGWARRY V PORT MACDONNELL

Port MacDonnell heads to Nangwarry to face off against the Saints in what should be a comfortable win for the visitors.

Port MacDonnell’s Megan Hein and Kori Collins combine well in the goal circle, moving and shooting with accuracy.

Kayla Gray and Chrystal Lock will apply pressure in the defensive circle for the Saints, working any turnovers back down the court with help from Carly Ploenges and Claire Ferguson.

The Demons’ defenders Alana Berkefeld and Alysha Coon are able to create pressure and force errors form their opponents, converting balls down the court through Liza Mutch and Shannon Scheidl.

Nangwarry goalies Hayley Vanderhorst and Tahlia Wilson will work overtime in the goal circle for the Saints, needing to score off as many opportunities as possible to limit the score line.

Port MacDonnell will finish the day with the win, but the Saints will not go down without a fight.

TANTANOOLA V KALANGADOO

For so long Kalangadoo has been the team to fear in the MSEFL.

While the Magpies lost the grand final last year, with some changes to the roster, they have bounced back well and look every bit the powerhouse of previous seasons.

Unfortunately for the Tigers, they host the undefeated Magpies on Saturday.

Kalangadoo’s goalie combination of Abbey Duncan and Ebony McDiarmid has proven to be a strong point for their team, with both players shooting with accuracy throughout the circle.

However, they will be under strong defensive pressure from Tantanoola’s Kate Bromley and Tayla Rowe.

Tiger Kate Varcoe and Magpie Jayde Peacock will have a good tussle through the mid-court, with both players fighting to gain possession for their respective team.

Varcoe combines well with Jami Walker as they feed into their goalies Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey from outside the circle.

Kalangadoo’s Lauren Kain and Lara Munro fight hard to gain possession and will put the pressure on for Tantanoola’s goalies, snatching up any loose balls or rebounds.

Kalangadoo will come away with the win, but Tantanoola will not go easy.
