DESPITE having to make the trip across to Kongorong, Hatherleigh chalked up and easy victory in Round 12 of Mid South East football on Saturday.

The Eagles simply decimated the Hawks, starting with a first-quarter flurry which continued throughout the contest.

The Hawks had to wait until late in the game to put a major score on the board, such was the intent of Hatherleigh’s defensive pack.

A 34-2 opening term set the scene, with Hatherleigh making its intentions known from the first bounce.

That continued in the second term with another five major scores, while the Hawks could only add three more behinds.

It was a similar scenario in the third term, where again the Hawks added three behinds and the Eagles continued on with four majors and half a dozen minor scores.

The final term saw Kongorong add two goals, but it was all academic, as the Eagles romped home for an easy victory.

For Hatherleigh, Patrick Chay was in good form in front of goal, with five major scores, while Louis Brown and Jake Wight contributed three each and Jase Bateman two.
