WEST GAMBIER v CASTERTON SANDFORD

THE Western Border netball reigning premiers remain undefeated heading into Round 11 and that status will not change this the weekend as they host Casterton Sandford.

The Cats have been hit hard by injury and player unavailability all season and have had to put a variety of combinations on court to cover those losses.

The consistency of Madalene Cleary has her leading the way in every area of the court across the first 10 rounds.

Caeleigh Humphries has also been consistent when available and is the backbone of the defensive end, while even having a run in goals in Round 10.

However, it is a tough ask for an unsettled roster to take on the premiership line-up.

West Gambier has proven to be too slick for every opponent, coming from behind last round to secure a nail-biting one-goal win over Millicent.

Sarah Ritter seems unstoppable at shooter and her connection with Lisa McGregor ensures the scoreboard is always ticking over for the Roos.

At the other end, the pressure applied by Jade Ritter, Amy Cram and Zoe Malseed will test the young Cats’ frontline despite talent the likes of Chelsey Galpin, Ivy Lane, Chloe Foster and Madeline Patton.

West’s Tara Bryant and her hard running will also be pivotal, with Patton probably being set for the task.

It will be all about the margin for the Cats and they will hope to limit the Roos while improving their own scoring from their first and second round clashes.
