ROBE V PORT MACDONNELL

A top-of-the-table clash presents this weekend in Round 12 of Mid South East football, as the two heavyweights of the competition look to stake a claim right at the pointy end of the ladder.

Robe currently sits top, with a four-point buffer to the Demons.

The only blemish for the Roosters this season was last round against Kalangadoo, as the Magpies continue to improve as the season unfolds.

The Demons’ list includes losses to Robe and Hatherleigh, with some big victories along the way.

Back in Round 3 the Roosters claimed the win over the Demons, but not without a fight in the sea-sawing contest.

Colby Munro was kept quiet that day, with just one goal to his name, while Will MacDonald kicked four.

For Robe, coach Nathan Brown stepped up with six majors to help his side to the win.

It was a strong third term which helped the Roosters secure the victory, as they banged on four goals and held the Demons to just one behind.

Munro appears to have found his feet in the Mid South East league now and sits at the top of the goal-kicking list, alongside Mount Burr’s Jack Gregory.

That would give Demons’ coach Josh Woodall some reason to smile on the long trip up to Robe.

Robe tends to share its goals around, with no player mentioned in the league’s top 10.

Joel Bryant sits down in 12th, then the names begin to appear more often, with Hamish Smith and Brown bagging plenty of majors this season.

On their home deck the Roosters would be confident to return to the winner’s list, but the Demons will certainly not make that an easy task.

It will certainly be worth the trip up to Robe to watch these too strong clubs go head-to-head, with the result to go either way.
