TANTANOOLA 43 D ROBE 33

IN what was to be the Mid South East netball game of the round, with third and fourth fighting for the win, some tough wintery conditions prevailed at Robe.

The first quarter was hotly contested, with Emma Gould and Keryl Ousey combining well in Tantanoola’s goal circle, making it hard for Robe’s Georgia Perkins and Emma Grant to get their hands on a ball.

However, Robe had strong defensive pressure down the court and was able to get a few turnovers and score.

An even first quarter saw Tantanoola up by one goal at the first break.

The second quarter saw both teams with no changes.

The Tigers dominated the quarter, with accurate shooting from Gould and Ousey, while Robe struggled to get the ball into their goalies and was up against strong rebounding from Tantanoola’s Tayla Rowe.

The Tigers began to run away with the game, with 18 goals to Robe’s four in the term.

Half time saw a couple of changes from both sides, with Tantanoola’s goalies Gould and Ousey swapping.

Robe’s Halle Carter went into goal attack, Ellen Ramke took the wing defence bib and Tori Gluyas headed to the bench.

Robe came out firing and played a more controlled game, with Demi and Halle Carter moving well in the circle and the former shooting with more confidence and accuracy.

Down the other end Perkins shut down Ousey – keeping her scoreless for the quarter, as Robe won the term 12-7.

The last quarter saw no changes to either team, with both fighting hard for the win and scoring eight goals each.

That gave Tantanoola the 43-33 victory after the earlier hard work.

Best players for Tantanoola were Rowe and Jami Walker, with Perkins and Halle Carter best for Robe.
