IT has been another stellar season for the Mount Gambier Pioneers women as they chase post-season action in the NBL1 South competition.

The women have lost just four games and won 11 on their way to third position on the ladder.

They did stumble last round against the Ringwood Hawks, but one the second game of a double-header weekend against the Ballarat Miners.

Just like their male counterparts, the Pioneers women have not had a settled roster all year, with Zitina Aokuso is yet to take the floor after foot surgery in the WNBL off-season, while several injuries have seen the Pioneers bench stand up and stay in touch with the top sides.

When the women faced Geelong back in Round 5 they went down by 11 points.

Cassandra Brown was not involved in that game, which is a big loss in any side.

She averages 18.56 points per game and 8.78 rebounds.

Isabella Brancatisano has had an impressive season, with averages of 16.33 points and 5.87 rebounds and had a huge against Geelong, with 35 points and eight rebounds..

Miela Goodchild averages 26.67 points and 7.83 rebounds and has been a revelation for the Pioneers this season, but was not in that roster either.

The usual suspects of Haliegh Reinoehl and Sherrie Calleia have kept the scoreboard ticking over, along with the inclusion of Imogen Rock and home-town favourite Keryl Ousey.

With a possible full-strength side, even if Aokuso does not take the floor, the Pioneers should be able to return serve and send Geelong home win-less.
