KONGORONG 51 D NANGWARRY 19

NANGWARRY and Kongorong hit the court running in Round 8 of Mid South East netball on Saturday.

The Kongorong defence applied lots of pressure to force Nangwarry into numerous passing errors.

Kongorong’s Emily Lightbody made it difficult to get ball to goalers with her tight defensive pressure.

Evie Sealey moved and shot well for the Hawks and they led by nine goals at quarter time.

Kongorong continued to apply plenty of pressure after the break, with some floating through the middle making it hard for Nangwarry to bring the ball down the court to their goalers.

Rachel Perry ran well through the middle, providing plenty of options and feeding well.

Kongorong goalers started to move ball around well even with some great defence from Nangwarry’s Kayla Gray, who took numerous intercepts.

At the main break Kongorong led Nangwarry 27-8.

Nangwarry made changes at the break, with Cassie Dinnison to wing attack, Tahlia Wilson to goal attack and Hayley Vanderhorst to goal shooter, which seemed to have a positive impact for the Saints.

Through Dinnison, Nangwarry was able to drive hard onto the ring with some patient feeding.

Wilson also stepped up to provide plenty of options for the Nangwarry feeders and finishing off well.

Carly Ploenges and Gray continued to work hard, with Gray still intercepting numerous balls even though Tilah Buckingham moved and positioned well for the Hawks.

Kongorong had a 26-goal lead going into the final quarter.

Kongorong again picked up in defence to force the Nangwarry goalers to work hard.

Nangwarry started to make poor choices, with Lightbody and Riley Buckingham picking off numerous balls.

Nangwarry’s Alice Circelli lifted, running well for her team, picking off numerous balls and having a good tussle with Perry.

Tilah Buckingham came off with an injury with five minutes to go, meaning Riley Buckingham went into goals and Jasmin McKinnon into defence.

It did not slow Kongorong down, as Nangwarry rushed too much in attack with their passing, giving it straight to Kongorong.

Kongorong ran away with the game with a 51-19 victory.

Best players for the victors were Lightbody and Perry, with Wilson and Gray

best for Nangwarry.
