NORTH GAMBIER V SOUTH GAMBIER

North Gambier hosts South Gambier in their return bout on Saturday, with both sides eager for a victory to help consolidate their ladder position.

The Round 6 Western Border football game will certainly be the match of the round, with plenty of entertainment at Vansittart Park.

The Tigers have the luxury of third place on the ladder, with the Demons down in fifth with just one victory to their name.

Last time the two sides met was the Anzac Day clash, and the Tigers were victorious.

With plenty of new players in the group, the Demons struggled to settle in that season-opener, with the opening half seeing just one goal and four behinds kicked by the young squad.

In contrast, North had kicked eight goals and five behinds to take a substantial lead.

To their credit, the young Demons dug deep and were far more competitive in the second half.

However, the damage had been done and the Tigers claimed the win.

Sam Stafford was a beacon up forward, banging on four major scores.

For South, Nelson Forbes kicked two.

This contest could go either way, but the Tigers should have enough to claim the win on their home deck.
